Are There Any Allergic Reactions To Latex Condoms?

Hello, I am on the birth control pill, but I have been taking antibiotics for strep throat for the last week. Knowing this could hinder the effectiveness of my oral contraceptive, My partner and I used a latex condom during intercourse. Now my vagina is burning, sore, swollen, itching and slightly peeling on the clitoris. Is this caused by my antibiotics or am I having an allergic reactions to the condom?

Hi, I had gone through your query and understood your concerns.

The condition you have mentioned is mostly due to the allergic reaction of Latex usage. Its called Delayed-type Contact Dermatitis
This condition appears 12 to 36 hours after contact with a latex product.
All the symptoms you have mentioned are of this condition.

This type of reaction is usually triggered by the added chemicals in the rubber. Symptoms may be very irritating but typically not life-threatening.

It usually gets resolved by self. Any anti inflammatory drugs like Asprin, ibuprofen can be used to relieve the symptoms.
Hope this helps you. Thank you
