Are Testosterone Injections Safe To Take With History Of Open Heart Surgery And On Cholesterol Medication?

I am 65 years old and have been diagnosed with low testosterone. I had open heart surgery in 2005. I am doing well, but am on cholesterol medication. I saw a urologist, who suggested the testosterone cream. My cardiologist didn t want me to use that long term. I have heard about the testosterone injections. Would that be safer?

Hi i read your query.

The testosterone injection isn't more safe than testosterone cream and the contrary is true.

Testosterone cream has more local effects than systemic so it has less effects on cholesterol and overall cardiac risk.

Testosterone injection has more systemic effects with an increase risk on overall cardiac risk.

Hope it was of help.
