Are Spotting, stomach Cramps And Mood Swings Signs Of Pregnancy?

HI! I recently started on the depo shot in april 3. I did not receive my period after I got the shot. This is was normal for me because I have been on the depo for two years before and never received a period either. I took my second shot on 6/ 23 and now for the last two weeks I have been spotting but its like more stringy when I use the restroom more than a liquid. I also have been cramping, have been moody, have had headaches, and also been very tired. I was wondering if there is a chance I might have gotten pregnant. I know that this is abnormal because I have used this form of birth control before.

Hi there, I have understood your concern. I will suggest you the best possible treatment options.

1 ) First of all do not panic.

2 ) To clear your dilemma about pregnancy, I will suggest you to get morning's first sample of urine tested for pregnancy. In case of doubt blood beta HCG test and USG will be of help.

3 ) If your pregnancy test results are negative, then your symptoms can be due to progesterone hormone in the depo shot.

4 ) I will suggest you to opt for a healthy diet and regular exercise regimen. Include more portions of fruits, salads and vegetables in daily diet. Start on some calcium supplements on daily basis.

This will help to prevent unwanted symptoms that you are getting. If you get control over these symptoms, then you can very well use the depo shot as a contraceptive method in future. Otherwise, please use intrauterine device like copper T, or Levo Norgestrel containing IUD. another option us to ask for use of condom by your partner.

I hope this answer helps you.
Thanks.
