Hello,

The best advantage of using condoms for birth control over any other means is that it gives added protection from sexually transmitted diseases. If you had used condoms perfectly each time you had sex with HIV infected woman and if no condom was torn during intercourse, then you are 97 to 99% safe from HIV transmission.

The best way to confirm is to take a blood test for HIV infection. However, there are some early sings that can indicate towards possibility of having HIV infection. These symptoms are flu-like. For example, if you have sore throat, fever, a rash on the chest, nausea, fatigue, diarrhea within a week to 10 days after having sex with HIV infected woman, you should be concerned about HIV. Rashes on neck does indicate that you should go for HIV test.

This test is provided by many governments for free and it is also confidential. If you turn out to be positive, with medicines, it is possible to live life normally without any further symptoms or development of AIDS. Some medicines and precautions are all it takes to be taken care of. Government of many countries provide free medication too for HIV infection.

I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HealthCareMagic. Take care.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
