Are Orangy Mucus, Fever And Sore Throat Due To Sinus Infection?

Hi there, Two days ago I felt like I was getting stuffed up in my sinus cavity, constantly clearing my throat and I woke up yesterday morning with a sore throat, persisted all day yesterday, had a slight fever, this morning when I woke up, same thing but I tried (sorry this is gross ) to hock up from my cavity and chunky yellow/orangy (orangy I'm sure is due to slight blood ) came down then on another try more clear green/yellow clear fluid came, this is a sinus infection correct? (I'm a medical assistant also) and I'm assuming I'll need an antibiotic to clear this up? no headache or anything....

hi,
you may need antibiotics , yes it looks like a sinus infection.
you can try using nasal decongestants like otrivin.
instill 3 drops of otrivin in each nostril 3 times daily and follow it up with steam.
decongestant nose drops help in ventilating the sinuses.
drink lots of water and avoid using the air conditioner.
regards,
Dr Rajkishori Godhi.
