Are Narcissism And Recognition Craving As A Struggling Caretaker A Mental Disorder?

I have a former friend whose whole identity revolves around her being super mom to 4 young girls (10 yo, 8 yo, and twin 7 yo) . The twins are autistic with several disabilities. While my friend would never cause health problems for her kids, it s almost like she revels in their suffering and being perceived as this wonderful, saintly mother. It s almost like a Munchausen by Proxy disorder. She is also very narcissistic. Are there any mental disorders I can reference similar to what I ve described.

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of personality disorder with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is more in your friend's case.
So better to consult psychiatrist as early as possible.
Ask her to consult psychiatrist and get done counselling sessions. Try to identify stressor in her life and start working on its solution.
She may need anxiolytic and other supportive drugs.
Counselling sessions along with drugs will definitely improve her.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your friend. Thanks.
