Are My Total Cholesterol And Triglycerides Level In Normal Range?
hi my total cholesteral is 245 i am a 50 yr old very phisical mae who just got back to biking 20 miles aday for a total of 100 a weel my triglicerides are 89 my hdl is 43 my ldl is 184 right away dr wants me on 20mg of zocor. what are your thoughts to this. thnaks much.

Your total cholesterol is high at 245 ,normal is upto 200 mg/dl and ldl is also high at 184 normal is upto 100mg/dl. triglicerides at 89 and hdl at 43 are normal.
Zocor is Simvastatin its a cholesterol-lowering drug. It reduces cholesterol by inhibiting an enzyme HMG-CoA reductase in the liver. It lowers total and LDL cholesterol i.e "bad" cholesterol . so you can go for it its a good medicine.Take care!
