Are Muscle Spasms With Bump On The Site Of Head Injury Normal?
I hit the lower back part of my head on the kitchen counter, it was extremely painful. The pain went away the next day but i am experiencing a lot of muslce spasm in general. I went to the physio therapist today and she gave me a massage on my head as well. Tonight i found a bump on where i assume i hit my head? Is that normal do u think it might of swollen up? This was 2 days after it happened?
I can understand your concern. The lump at head injury site is common. It occurs because of rupture of blood vessels in scalp layer and reactionary edema (oozing of fluid from vessel).
This swelling will subside on its own 10-14 days. To get relief, you can
: Take painkiller with anti-inflammatory action like Diclofenac sodium. It will reduce edema and pain.
: Apply icepacks at injury site : Keep head at higher level than chest : Avoid pressure at injury site
As you have got relief in spasm, you can do physiotherapy of neck daily.
Hope it will help you. Still no relief, you can consult doctor.
Thanks.
Take care.
