Are Light Flashes In The Peripheral Vision Cause For Concern?

Hi , I am having little flashes of light in the periphery of my vision. I am 56, very nearsighted. My vision is perfect at the moment. Should I call my optometrist in the morning, call an opthamologist in the morning, or go to the emergency room tonight?
