Tonsils are a first line of defense and can become chronically infected. When no longer able to heal, removal can be considered. See your physician for further evaluation. Have you been prescribed an antibiotic? Appropriate strength Tylenol will help reduce fever and signs of inflammation, but not fight the infection. Additional throat symptoms and the increase signs of inflamed tonsils indicate advancing signs of infection. Your doctor can make the correct diagnosis. I recommend Rest, warm salt water rinses and keeping hydrated until doctor is seen.
