Are Itchy Rashes On Hands And Red Blotches On Palate Side Effects Of Amoxicillin?

I m a 23 yr old female. I went to dr yesterday 11-7-15 and he told me I had tonsillitis and prescribed amoxicillin. I took one dose last night before bed and woke up this morning with itchy burning rash with few blisters on my hands. It fades a little then becomes inflammed. I also noticed dark red blotches toward back roof of my mouth. What could this be? I have 2 children. One is 3 months old other is 5 yrs old. I don t want it to spread to them if it s something contagious.

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
These rashes could be because of allergy to amoxicillin. However these can also due to contact with other allergic or poisonous agents. These are not conatgious & would not spread to your children. You should stop the drug & take anti- allergy medicines like benedryl/cetrizine. The rash would dissappear with time.

You should consult your doctor & take another medicine for tonsillitis.

Hope this information helps
