Are Increased Heart Rate And Breathlessness A Cause For Concern?

I am taking Lithium 600mg twice a day. My level i have been told is 0.6. However i am noticing that my heart rate is never less than 100. When i am working it has gone up to 160 and i get short of breath. I have an appointment with my doctor on 1/25/15. wondering if it is necessary to seek medical attention before then.

Thank you for your question! Regarding your heart rate seems that you have persistent tachycardia; and it should be rules out if you have any presence of arrhythmia. So I advice you to perform a resting ECG and consult it first with your GP. Lithium is accused sometimes for heart rhythm disorders; although your Li blood leves are in the lower therapeutic range. Nevertheles arhythmia may coexist in different persons indipendent of any actual treatment; so if ECG results show abnormality you have to discuss with the cardiologyst again to explore the reasons.
