Are Headaches And Low Fever Due To Minocycline Prescribed For Acne?

My daughter is taking minocycline for acne. She has been on it for 3-1/2 weeks. The past week, she has had headache, especially behind the eyes, a low fever (99.5ish), and is very tired and weak. We thought it was the flu, but I m concerned it could be related to the minocycline. Should she stop the minocycline?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain the symptoms of headache behind her eyes,fever and weakness seems to be due to Viral infection only and less probable to be due to side effects of Minocycline..
I would suggest that she can take Acetaminophen to reduce fever and pain..
She can also take a combination of Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen..
Take ample of fluids and sufficient rest..
In case if symptoms does not improve or the condition worsen consult a General Physician and get evaluated and if allergy to Minocycline is suspected an allergy test will help in confirmation and stoppage of drug along with anti allergics like Benadryl will help..
She will also be advised another Antibiotic for ance like Clindamycin, Doxycycline etc after testing whether the antibiotics will be compatible to her or not to avoid allergic reaction and discomfort..
