Are Having Mild Chest Pain On Left Side And Burping Symptoms Of Acid Reflux?

Hi I am feeling a mild chestpain on left side and sometime on both( can t describe it as heartburn). Having cough mostly in night in between the sleep, have some voice like aaaaahhhh(might me problem with breath) and end up with burp which makes me relax. It start after i feel something is leaked from stomuch and move to different part across like towards the down and up towards the chest. On that day i taken a heavy and spicy dinner. Doctors whom i consulted describe this problem as acid re-flux. During the cough i don t have phlegm but yes i have saliva which is tasteless. I gone through chest x-ray and ECG which are normal. Also want to let you know i have food re-fluxx problem since 5-6 years but it was never a problematic for me. Need your advice. Thanks Salil

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi thanks for asking question.

Noted you have normal chest x ray so tuberculosis or pneumonia chances are here very less.

Normal ECG so cardiac causes also less likely.

You have positive history of reflux so yes acid reflux can cause chest pain.

Take spicy food to very less.

Take fatty food very minimum.

Omeprazole taken for few days.

Avoid smoking.

While sleeping raise head.

Don't be in recumbent position within 2 hour of meal because to avoid direct contact of acid to distal esophagus.

Avoid stress as it can lead gastritis.

If still your condition increased fundoplication like surgery may sometime needed.

I hope you will understand my concern.

Take care
