Are Follows Up Done On Non Returning Depression Patients?

I have been put on 40mg of citalopram, the doctor didnt seem to need much time to diagnose depression. She has recommended a psychiatrist whom she was going to discuss me as being "not an average patient" but because i have a decent understanding of psychology and therapy and i am extremely cynical. I think i want to continue the citalopram even though i am not feeling much effect, but i am not keen on going back to doc again. If you dont turn up again do doctors do they do any follow ups?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
I dont think psychiatrist will be interested in following up if youare not interested in the same and if you don't need any psychotherapeutic help ( which i think u are not on currently). In my opinion consultation with your psychiatrist is just way to know if there is any need for change in medication or its dosage or other psycho therapeutic intervention.
I hope my response helps you here but feel free to ask more.
