Welcome to HealthcareMagic,
Emergency contraceptive pills are an effective method of contraception. It is very effective if it is taken within 12 hours. The sooner you will take more it will be effective It is 95% effective within 24 hours of unprotected sex, 85% between 25 – 48 hours and 58% if taken between 49 – 72 hours.
As you have taken the pill within 24 hours most probably you are not pregnant. After taking an emergency pill the menstrual cycle and duration will get altered. But do not worry as it will get rectified within a month or two. Use a condom next time as it will also protect you from sexually transmitted diseases and HIV. Hope that answers your question.
Regards, Dr.Imaad.
