Are Deviated Septum And Enlarged Turbinates The Cause For Nasal Voice?

My daughter has a deviated septum, and enlarged turbinites. Also, she speaks with a very low voice, and has a nasal tone in her voice. Could these things be related? As a child, she had perfect speech, but as she grew, so did her breathing, and speech problems. Your advice would be appreciated.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain nasal tone in voice seems to be due to deviated nasal septum and increase in size of inferior turbinates and these conditions can also lead to breathlessness.
Low pitched voice can be due to muscular and neurological problems related to vocal cords whilevany nodule or tumor can also cause the same..
You should consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he can advise investigations like nasal x Ray, MRI Scan etc to rule out the exact cause of the problem and also Laryngoscopy to rule the problem associated with vocal cords and treatment can be planned accordingly..
For deviated nasal septum Septoplasty can be advised along with reducing the size of overgrown portion of turbinates..
For low pitched voice evaluation of the exact cause and treatment if any abnormality found will be done..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
