Are Delayed Periods Indicative Of Pregnancy?

Hi doctor, I have 5 days delayed from my period and I was trying for baby from my last period. I went for pregnancy test doctor told to wait ten more days to confirm. I have thickened EM but sac is not found. After 4 months from abortion due to blighted ovum we tried last month for pregnancy. My last period was on Jan 15, 2016. Can you please advise whether there is chance of pregnancy. Also I have been advised to visit again if i get period within ten days. Thank you, Indhu

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Thickened endometrium without gestational sac does not guarantee that you have conceived at this moment. Kindly wait for ten days as the doctor has advised as sometimes appearance of gestational sac could take little longer time after implantation to be visible in ultrasound scan.
Be stress free during this period. Avoid physical exertion. Take adequate rest and keep yourself well hydrated. Eat healthy foods.
In case the delay in periods continue, then there are chances that you could have conceived and gestational sac should be visible in the scan to confirm it.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
