Are Cold Like Symptoms While On Lopid A Cause For Concern?
I am a 91 year old female who has been taking Lopid for the past 20 plus years. My side effect is cold like symptoms like hoarseness, sneezing and extreme runny nose. Should I be concerned? Also, would a sudden withdrawal from the medication be a problem.

As per your history you are right now taking LOPID which contains GEMFIBROZIL and it is used in the treatment of hyperlipidaemia .side effect of this drug is gastrointestinal disturbances,cholelithiasis,myositic syndrome,blurred vision,headache,myalgia etc.Please check your TSH and SUGAR because hypothyroid and diabetic patients should take precaution while taking this drug.So from Drug point of view your symptom is not due to the drug ,so make a blood test CBC with differential to arrive at a dignostic point.Thanks
