Are Chills And Fever Are A Typical Reaction For The Reclast Medication Used To Address Osteopenia And Is There Any Alternative?

I was infused with 5 mg reclast on 11/6 to address osteopenia. That evening chills and fever followed. The next day my temp was 101.7. I ached and had double vision. My temperature is now (11/9) 99.6. Symptoms are abating slowly. Is this a typical reaction to reclast? Is there another drug alternative?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I have studied your case with diligence.

Yes this is typical reaction to reclast.
Check your bone strength with DEXA SCAN and you can start medication according to level of osteoporosis,
I will advise you to do regular physiotherapy and exercises as my patients find much relief by these therapies.

You can take teriperatide injection instead of reclast.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care
