Are Bone Strengtheners Safe And What Are Their Side Effects?

I had breast cancer last year with a single breast removal. I have been taking arimadex (a hormone blocker) which made me feel really bad, hard to breathe, walk, etc. my oncologist now wants me to have an injection to strengthen my bones due to the osteoporosis caused by the hormone blocker. My calcium levels are good & my vitamin D is improving greatly. My energy level us not where I want it to be. I get too tired too quickly but there is no cancer in my body now. I had been diagnosed as stage 3 but now cancer free. Should I take any kind of bone strengtheners & if so what kind of side effects can I expect from that?

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am happy to hear about your triumph over this cancer. These medications are good to prevent rapid bone loss. They belong to the bisphosphonate class. There are several different types and it would be best for your doctor to talk with you on what is best. They are several, all work best and what you take depends on what you both agree on. When taken by mouth, please drink much water to prevent pill induced irritation in the throat and stomach.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for suing our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
