Are Asymmetrical Legs The Cause For Pain In Knee And Back?

I have been experiencing pain in my right knee for about 2-3 weeks. Feels like my kneecap wants to pop off. I cant bend or get up easily, neither have my leg in the same position for long time. I also have to add i was born with a leg shorter then the other, im not sure of the inch difference but i would say between 1-2 inches for sure. It has been affecting my back also. Im not sure what to do or if my shorter leg could be affecting my knee?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
welcome to hcm,
I really appreciate your concern,
Yes assymetrical legs can sometimes cause knee pain but totally unrelated to back pain,
The pain in the leg and back could be due to scoliosis or abnormal posture or osteoarthritis or calcium deficiency.
The degenerative changes in the spine are responsible for the pain in neck and back.
For the pain in knee and back the treatment options include pain killers, hot fomentation, lubricating agents like glucosamine sulfate, chondroitin , dycerin, etc and some life style modifications and physiotherapy.
Right now you can start taking Tablet Tylenol ( Acetaminophen) Double Strength after breakfast and after dinner. It is suggested to add calcium supplements 500mg each twice daily. Get the proper lubricating agents prescribed from your orthopedician.
For back pain
-Do warm water fomentation with help of water bag over your back.
-Test for levels of vitamin B12, If low do take Vitamin B12 supplements.
-Take help of a physiothearpist .He will be able to give your relief by intermittent traction, ultrasonic therapy etc.
Please let me know if you have any further queries,
Thanks.regards
