Are Rifampicin And Isoniazid Advisable For Granulomatous Disease?

Hello Dr, it was accidentally discovered that my left lympnodes were swollen. I had no symptoms. After FNAC procedure, they say it is granulomatous disease. ( Large giant cells possibly from TB ). The lympnodes swelling was there for last 6 years. But now only we did FNAC. I am given the following tablet for first two months Rifampicin 600 Isoniazid 300 Ehumbutol 1200mg Livopill I am not sure if treatment is desired now since there is no symptoms. Please advise if the above is ok or correction needed.

Greetings
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.
One of the causes of swollen lymph nodes is definitely TB which is common in many countries, therefore it is important to know if you also belong to one of those countries. But as far as granulomatous disease is concerned there are other diseases also under this heading. For TB it is important to have caseous necrosis. Details of the FNAC will be needed by me.

But as i said in few countries we do have endemic TB so we can start anti tuberculous therapy. Then other health problems with TB may also be present. Like weight loss, fever , night sweats and a contact with a person who has TB.

As far as the medications are concerned i would suggest you should add pyrazinamide also to the combination and Vit B6 tablets will also be required in order to avoid Vit B6 deficiency that is possible with these medications.

I hope the answer was helpful. In case you need any further assistance feel free to contact us in writing .
