Are Lorazapam And Propanalol The Right Medication For Anxiety And Depression?
Hello,
I have been having really bad anxiety and depression lately. I have seen my doctor and am on Lorazapam and Propanalol. These help a bit, but I am still unable to go to work. I feel guilty when I miss work and think I am going to get fired. I am sick with the stomach flu and have missed two days of work this week- I am going to have to stay home today yet as I still am sick. I am also having huge bouts of guilt which make my anxiety worse. I do not know what to do. Should I quit my job?

I can understand your concern. Lorazepam is a Benzodiazepine drug and the drug is used commonly for control of acute symptoms of anxiety. The drug can't be used alone for treatment of anxiety as this helps to control the symptoms. Similarly Propranolol is also a drug that is used for symptom control of anxiety. Both drugs if used on SOS basis can help to control the symptoms.
The symptoms you are having like guilty at work, fear of going to get fired, sick stomach, depression etc need proper evaluation. Medicines like SSRIs or SNRIs should be used regularly to help to reduce the symptoms. Fluoxetine, Paroxetine, Sertraline etc can help. Please visit a psychiatrist for evaluation and prescription treatment of anxiety and depression.
