Hi im dr.hema physiotherapist.

welcome to healthcaremagic

He must be clinically evaluatd as it is chronic.

The pain is neurological, or from muscle, whether there is any weakness in his arm, any change in sensations.. all these are done to rule out, the compression of nerve root at the cervical disc or impingement at shoulder.

The numbness says the involvement of nerve.

After that only he will be treated accordingly... you need to consult orthopedician.

Start with physiotherapy exercises, , modalities for relief and get better result for pain.

Hope the information given helps to guide you.

In doubt do reply.
Im happy to help you.
