Anxiety, Paranoia. Done HIV Tests. What Are The Results?

Hi. I was at risk back in July 19, 2013. I got very nervous as time went on and I remember seeing the oraquick in home hiv test. By now I was on my 11'th week, so bought one. Read the instructions and when my 20 minutes was up, it was negative. Well, that was fine for all of about 2 days. Anxiety stepped in and saw I got another test on the 12th week mark. It turned out to be negative as well. Anxiety won again and so I bought another test on the 89th day. They say 12 weeks, 90 days, or 3 months for conclusive results. The 89th day came out negative too. Do I need to test again, or am I just being paranoid. Thanks for your help.

welcome to HCM!

I have gone through your question carefully, from the question it looks that you have fear of getting HIV from some risky behavior and now you have done HIV test several time, each time it was negative.

As you yourself said that the test is negative, and repeating it several times is not required. you have developed fear and anxiety related to this which is making you do it even after it comes negative. more over, from the question it is to apparent that you are sure that the contact was from some HIV positive patient, so , there is also a chance that it was a non HIV contact!

I think even if you will get the test done once again, it will not lessen your fear. Had I been at your place, I would meet some psychologist/ psychiatrist and get myself interviewed.

I feel that with counselling sessions and may be some anti anxiety medicine this fear will go and you wil be able to concentrate on better and more valuable things in life once again.

I hope the reply helps you
