Hi there,
The mainstay of treatment in anal fissures is to reduce or prevent
constipation and I think you are going in the right direction with high fibre diet, water, and
psyllium husk. Oats as a porridge is good. Soak raisins in a glass of drinking water and leave it overnight. In the morning drink the raisin soaked water and eat the soaked raisins; might help in good bowel movements.
Another option is when you wake up in the morning, first thing, drink 3 glasses of water. If you drink 3 glasses of water at first , if you are not in the habit of drinking water early in the morning, you might vomit. So make this change gradually. First 2-3 days, drink one glass of water everyday(250ml). Next couple of days 2 glasses.Next couple of days 3 glasses(750ml). Within 15-30min of drinking water, you will feel the urge to go to the bathroom and this ensures good bowel and bladder movements . All this water therapy , provided you don't have any other health problems like abnormalities in kidney function.
No matter how high the fibre intake, if you dont drink enough water, it wont help with the bowel movements. Have plenty of vegetables & fresh fruits like bananas . Have salads with olive oil dressing.Cut down on milk, fatty foods, redmeat which are constipating and worsens cholesterol levels..Olive oil ,walnuts, plenty of fresh green leafy vegetables,is good for bringing down your cholesterol levels. Regular exercise 30 minutes a day for 5 days is a must.
Apply a small amount of vaseline/petroleum jelly 3 times a day. Vaseline is soothing and it will help the area to heal well. If the pain is really bad , consult your doctor.
Fenofibrate and Buproprion might also be the culprits for worsening constipation. Continue fenofibrate(I think it must have been given to you for your
abnormal lipid profile levels or
high cholesterol).
Basically, I feel you can control most of your problems with lifestyle changes. To control
stress , join good yoga/
meditation classes.
Get well soon. Have a nice day :)
