Allergic To Sulfa. Prescribed Spironolactone, Bad Hives, Itching. Had Sever Reaction To Sulfa And Feels The Same

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. I ve already called my doctor, but we re holding for a few days unless things get worse. I m alergic to Sulfa. My doctor has prescribed Spironolact 100 mg. I m having some bad hives and iching and I think it s associated with this new drug. Since I ve had a sever reaction to sulfa that feels this same way, I m wondering how long I should wait to seek help?

Hello

Thanks for the query

It looks like you are allergic to spironolactone as well. I advice you to discontinue taking it and call your doctor for an alternative.
Here are my suggestions to you

1. Tab Levocetrizine can be taken once daily to control the hives
2. Seek immediate help in case of puffiness of face, change of voice and breathing difficulty
3. Spironolactone is an essential drug, an alternative should be given. Please speak to your doctor regarding this

I hope I was of help

Regards
