SIR,MYSELF IS DR.NARAYANSAMY , MY DAD IS A BINGE ALCOHOLIC,,,WE TRIED A LOT TO CONTROL HIS DRINKING,,,BUT ALWAYS THERE IS A RELAPSE AFTER ONE MONTH,,,BUT NOWADAYS HIS DRINKING FREQUENCY HAS INCREASED,,,HE HAS OTHER COMOPRBID CONDITIONS SUCH AS HYPERTENSION DM POST MI ANGIOPLASTY DONE UNDER MEDICATIONS SUCH AS ASPIRIN CLOPILET,GLIMIPRIDE METFORMIN VOGLIIBOSE RAMIPRIL N STATIN,,,, SHAL I TRY CHLORDIAZEPOXIDE FOR HIM,,WILL IT BE BENIFICIAL ,,,WAITING FOR UR REPLY,,,

De addiction treatment yielded results only in cases where love and family affection is available.
Treatment with druga can be beneficial upto an extent and in 97% cases, relapse occurs.
Therefore, I suggest family intervention more than drugs.
Over and above he might be aged.
Let him live happily with the affection and love family members provide, not on medications which make him drowsy and immobile.
