Hi,
The loss of appetite could well be a side effect of the strong antibiotics he is on. Metranidazole causes severe nausea and in addition to amoxicillin leaves a metallic taste in the tongue which can make food stuff very un-appetising. Please do not panic and once the antibiotics are done, his appetite will return.

Hope this helps and hope your son starts to feel better.
