Advice On Medication For Bipolar Disease With Mood Swings

My granddaughter, age18, has in 13 medications. Her doctor has, I think, diagnosed her biopolar with many mood changes. she has been hospitalized three times since may 2013. I do not think she is improving and on way too many meds. Is it time to get another opinion and different treatment. Due to meds, she has gained so much weight. YYYY@YYYY

Hello
As you mentioned that the age of patient is just 18 years and all in all she is taking 13 drugs together and still no improvement in spite of three times admission in hospital .
Above all her weight is increasing.
In my opinion this is a concerning , you must consult two different psychiatrist and get their opinion.
As in this type of cases treatment is important and medicines are necessary but admission is not necessary .
So consult another psychiatrist and get his opinion.
Good luck.
