Advice For Swollen Finger After Pricking With Clip?

Hi. I pricked my finger a few days ago with a paper clip. It went in 1cm. My whole finger swelled up to double it's normal size. I couldn't bend It at all. I can now bend it 90 degrees. It is still swollen quite a bit. Do you have any advice. Thank you.

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Swollen finger after an injury indicates some bacterial infection. Pain, redness and swelling are characteristic for such process. If bending the finger is painful, tendons infection can be present. If left untreated can lead to serious complications.
If you find the finger is getting better and the swelling does not spread to other hand parts, most likely your organism will fight the infection by its own. However if the swelling is not getting better, antibiotic might be necessary.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
