Adenocarcinoma Of Lung. Started Chemotherapy. Is This True That Chemo In Pill Form Be Taken?

My mother was diagnosed with poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma of the lung. She was found with 2 dot size spots on her left lung and has started with chemotherapy once every 2 weeks. They had mentioned that she would be retested after 4 treatments and then possibly move to chemo in pill form. Does this sound promising?

Hi,
The treatment of metastatic adenocarcinoma of lung is 4-6 cycles of chemotherapy followed by maintenance therapy. To start on maintenance therapy, there should be no progressive disease or new lesions. so the retesting is to know the response to treatment. Maintenance can be given with chemotherapy or oral TKI inhibitor. In your case may be your doctor is planning for the TKI inhibitor. Yes it sound promising.
Hope i have answered your question.
