Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

Cocaine can affect almost any system in the body. In the respiratory system it can cause a cough productive of blood (due to bleeding in the lungs) , pulmonary edema (collection of fluid in the lungs) and respiratory distress (breathing fast).
In terms of the bloody diarrhoea you are describing , it is known to cause nausea , vomiting and bloody diarrhoea. It can also affect the blood supply to the bowel and result in death in parts of the intestine.

It would be best if your boyfriend seeks help for his addition, there are a number of programs available.
The use of cocaine can only lead to problems.

I hope this helps

Hello and welcome.

Thank you for your query.

Let me educate you on the organ-specific effects of cocaine use:

Heart- Increase in heart rate and blood pressure. Heart attacks (Myocardial arrest or Myocardial infarction) can result due to the constriction of arteries that supply the heart as a result of cocaine use

Gastrointestinal tract (GIT)- Constriction of arteries supplying the gut, can result in a drop in supply of oxygen to the GIT resulting in ulcers or perforation

Kidneys- Decreased blood supply to kidneys can cause damage to the cells in the kidney resulting in kidney failure or high blood pressure

Brain- Constriction of the brains blood vessels can cause strokes

Respiratory system- Absorption of cocaine can cause permanent lung damage and even respiratory failure

From the above mentioned effects, which are only few of the most important ones, there could be a possibility that your boyfriend has a perforation or even one or more ulcers in his GIT, which is aggravated every time he 'snorts' cocaine.

I advise a consultation with a doctor to get him diagnosed and also a de-addiction center which can help him to get rid of this habit.

You need to be strong and make some serious life-changing decisions.

I hope I have been of assistance. You can write back to us for any other clarifications.

Best wishes.
