Hi,I am Dr. Radhakrishna (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a fifty three year old female w. an acute onset of pain in the r. lower quad of my abdomen. The pain began after I was dancing for about two hrs so I thought it was joint pain however, it has persisted making it difficult to walk or even sit up. I am afebrile and there is no tachycardia or hypotn. I am reluctant to go to the hospital because I work there and do not want to go if this is nothing. My stools are soft and formed and I have no pain or burning w. urination. I am stumped! Help please.
Pain in the lower abdomen may or may not be related to dancing. Physical exertion can cause muscular pain but pain associated with vuscera or internal organs is unlikely. Lower abdomen is a broad area. It encloses reproductive organs like ovaries, fallopian tubes and other abdominal organs like intestine, appendix, rectum, etc. An ultrasound of the abdomen needs to be done to look for any mass lesion causing the pain. But before that a through clinical examination needs to be done. You will need to consult your doctor for that.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
