Hi There, Welcome to Healthcare magic. Abnormal pap smear is definitely worrisome. HPV is human papilloma virus which usually causes warts. Isolation of HPV 16, 18, 31 genotypes with abnormal pap smear will be a cause to worry as it predisposes to cervical cancer. I suggest you relax and get in touch with a pathologist who will explain the details regarding your abnormal pap smear and HPV. Thanks
