93 Year Old Has Broken Nose, Cheek Bones, Crack Near Neck Vertebra, Cut On Forehead Post Fall, Been Induced Medical Coma. Will It Aid Healing?

93 year old female had a severe fall down the stairs. Broken nose and cheek bones and crack neck vertebra, also deep vertical cut in the forhead. Face severely swollen. She was awake and able to garble answers. Taken to a trauma center where doctors determined this is life threatening and have induced a medical coma . Is this to allow healing or end of life step?

Dear friend, welcome to HCM!
On reading your description, I feel they have sedated her to secure a safe airway and control respiration artificially after a fractured neck vertebra as it can endanger life.
This is a therapeutic intervention.

At this age this is a serious injury and there could be a brain injury also.
What does CT scan / MRI spine say?

Please get guided by your treating doctors' advice.
I will need all test reports and medical condition to comment if this is a severe injury or -end-of-life situation.
