8 Year With Frequent Nosebleeds, Fainting Episodes. Had A Fall When Young. Advice?

My 8 year old son has started getting frequent nosebleeds often associated with headaches and his cheeks go red. He started getting frequent nosebleeds at 18 months of age after falling out of bed and bashing his face on his CD player. I got his nose treated about a year ago after which his nosebleeds almost eliminated. But now they have come back again - he's had one a day for almost a week.
Also at the end of Feb his face went all red at school and he fainted (went to A&E for a check but all ok) - 3 days later he was violently sick (went to A&E again) but they were confident it was just a vile bug.
Finally he often complains of tummy ache when he wakes up. What would be your advice please?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Nose bleeds are due to nose pricking in children.

If this is not a cause in your child other causes like dry nose, nose trauma, and other causes to be ruled out by a proper history.

Get his blood pressure checked.

Investigations to be done to rule out any blood clotting abnormalities.

Nasal airways has to be examined by an ENT specialist to look for any local causes.

Therefore I advise you to consult the pediatrician for initial evaluation for his nose bleeds, headache, and tummy hurt followed by investigation and for an appropriate referral.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
