Chronic Hypertension, Heartburn, Vomiting. Regulated With Minipress, Natrilix And Cozaar. Suggest
65 year old female with chronic hypertension regulated with minipress and natrilix sr. Had an episode 2 days ago where bp shot up and was out of control. Was admitted for 24 hours with multiple medications but no IV pressers. Now on minipress, cozaar and norvasc experiencing balance issues, extreme weakness, vomiting and pain under ribs. Newly prescribed gavaton 50mg to control vomiting and risek for heartburn. Is this the best medication combination? Can the noirvasc be switched for something else?
Respected Ma'm All first line blood pressure lowering agents have nearly similar efficacy. Although we use certain drugs particularly for certain conditions, it is more important to bring down the blood pressure rather than the agent used. I do not see any irrationality in this combination of blood pressure lowering drugs. If you have some problem with Norvasc, you can always get it replaced by a drug of same group or from another group after discussing with your physician. hope this helps. Sincerely Sukhvinder
