60 Yrs. Have Healing 5th Metatarsal Break Near Base. On Rest Putting Foot Up. Safe Walking On Foot?

I have 5th metatarsal break near base - very clean no probs. Saw ortho surgeon 1 week after break and he was happy and I've been in a moon boot thing for 6 weeks in 2 days time. I've been putting foot up and resting in afternoon when swollen - been working - but not driving - do you think its safe to test walking on the foot in a good quality and fitting sneaker? I'm 60 years old ....

Hello, I have gone through your query and understood your concern. Normally and broken bone takes around 8 weeks to completely heal and longer in older patients. Try putting leg up if swelling is still present and and use the same boots for 2 more weeks and then you can try walking on foot with care. Hope it helped. Thanks.
