Hello my 5 week granddaughter was admitted to the hospital yesterday because of gastric reflux and dark purple lips. Her duration at the hospital resulted of many EKG's which all came back norma. Her oxygen level was 100 and the sonogram of the heart was also normal. All test perform were all negative. What else could be the problem?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi dear,
Thanks for your query to health care magic. Since echo, ecg, oxygen level are normal there doesn't seem to be any serious problem. She is probably fine. She doesn't have any heart diease which can be one cause of dark purple lips. Environmental temperature also can result in blue lips which need not be worried. A look at her hemoglobin levels can be done. Otherwise there seem to be no cause for concern. Gastric reflux medications need to be taken which will respond well to medications.

Take care
