40 year old with pins and needle pain in the fingers. Reason?

Hi. I am a healthy, very sporty male, aged 40s. No known medical ailments and I am taking no medication . Last monday i woke up with a sensation like pins and needles in my little finger , but it is a more subtle sensation. There appears no bruising at all. It has lasted a week. I went to an accupunturist last week, but the sensation is still there, (but it has not developed/changed/spread). Can you please advise?

Hello and welcome.

Thank you for the query.

Your presentation is close to what we call neuralgia (pain caused by irritation or by damage to a nerve). Although you might not notice any external injury, there could possibly be an internal injury, especially to the nerves.

This pain is at times temporary and at times doesn't recur, as injury was minor and healing wouldn't have taken much time. But, if this pain does persist or recur, then I would advice you to make a doctors appointment and consult a vascular specialist (who can help asses your condition) and advice treatment if required.

This is a treatable condition, and a minor one. Do not hesitate to write back to us for further clarifications. I hope this information has helped you.

Wishing you the best in health.
