33 Weeks Pregnant, Suffered An Electric Shock. What Are The Health Implications To The Fetus?

Hi Dr, my wife who is on her third trimester pregnancy, to be exact 33 weeks, had an electric shock yesterday after tripping over an electric cable extension cord. May I know what are risks that the fetus will likely to have suffered? Will there be any damage to his organs, etc. ? Will appreciate your early reply. Thanks. Concern Dad.

hi,
Effect of eclectic shock on pregnancy depends on magnitude of current, duration of contact etc,
Depending on these the effect can range from no harm to fetal death either immediately or after few days,
So you consult gynecologist let her examine your wife and get one ultrasound done,
If everything is normal follow with regular checkups.
Take care.
