28 Year Old Prescribed With Medication For High Cholesterol Levels. Should I Take It Lifelong?

I have high cholesterol . My Doctor suggested me to take medication which should be taken life time. I am 28 yrs old and my wait is 60Ks. I am not fat. Please suggest, isn t it curable with medicine. Should I keep on taking the medicine? As per my blood report: T.CHOLESTEROL : 5.8 MMOL/L TRIGLICERIDES : 2.0 HDL- CHOLESTEROL : 1.2 LDL-CHOLESTEROL : 4.4

Hi
you can only control your high cholesterol level ,
as you are young and have abnormal cholesterol level you should start medicine ,
apart form medicine you should also adopt healthy life style ,
make some changes in your diet and exercise .

Diet:
Take good quantity of fresh fruits , fresh green leafy vegetables , pulses, legumes , dry fruits like almond , wall nut ,
take whole grain food like brown bread , brown rice , whole wheat ,
sea food like sea fish salmon , tuna , sardine , meat like lean poultry ,
restrict salt intake
avoid fried food ,ghee , butter , red meat , organ meat like liver , kidney and sea food like prawns , crabs, egg yellow if you are non vegetarian
avoid bakery items , fried food , sweets, ice cream .


Exercise:
Do regular brisk walking
do yoga's , pranayam's.

Addiction:
Quit any form of Tobacco if you are using,
limit your alcohol intake,

hi vijay... high lipid profile is generally due to genetic or poor lifestyle.. the only permanent cure for it is improving your lifestyle...you need to star with some exercise like brisk walks/ swim/ jogging/ dancing for 1 hour..eat small meals every 2-3 hours.. have fruits, almonds, walnuts, oats, salads, brown rice, jowar/ ragi.. avoid egg yolks, red meat, whole milk.. opt for slim milk.. you also need to avoid fried and sweets and junk foods... eat natural foods as much as possible.. drink lot of water.. also take 2 fish oil capsules daily for omega 3 which helps reduce cholesterol..rest well..
