2 Year Old With Vomiting. Feeling Tired. Viral Infection?

Hi, my 2 year old daughter started vomiting 2 nights ok, vomiting every hour for 12 hours. She has been drinking ok. Last night she slept thru and has eaten little bits of pasta, toast. Today she is very lethargic currently asleep on sofa, still drinking water ok. Is this due to lack of good and the virus taking it out of her? Kind regards Claire.

Dear Claire

Thanks for posting your query here.

From the symptoms described, it seems she has got a 'stomach bug' usually a virus causing these symptoms.

Is she been running temperature or having loose stools?

I hope she is passing enough urine throughout the day today.

I would suggest:

1. Continue encouraging fluids/liquids/juices etc

2. Monitor for temperature, urine output

3. If she is very difficult to wake up, vomits everything and doesn't retain anything down or she has very less wet nappies, please see emergency doctor or your GP.

Symptoms should take another day or two to resolve. It is the effect of infection that she is feeling lethargic and resting, more than usual.

Hope she gets better soon

Hi
This problem doesnt seems to be viral infection . Vomiting may be due to contamination of food . or child may have some digestive problem.
cause of lethargy may be due Dehydration
So maintain Fluid intake as much as possible
if vomiting still persist consult to Paediatrician
Take care
