2 Year Old, Fever, Red Throat. Taking Ibuprofen. Negative For Strep Throat. When Should I Be Concerned?
My daughter is 2 and we have been to the dr. twice for a high fever between 102.5 and 103.9. its not breaking. the ibuprofen started working and her fever goes down to 99, but when it gets to 6hrs. its shoots back up. her whole body is sweaty and very hot. she has no symptoms except yesterday she had a red throat and did a strep test that was negative and a urine test for a uti that was negative. tomorrow will be going on day 4. I;m getting very frustrated. she also hasn't had anything to eat for 3 days and I have to force fluids on her. When should I be concerned! Also no rash....
Thanks for writing to health care magic. I can understand your concern. If your child continues to have fever she should be investigated for the cause of it. After a physical examination depending on the findings further investigations are to be ordered. Since your child continues to have fever please consult your doctor once again for further investigations and examination.
Continue to ask further queries as required. Hope this helps. Take care. Dr Y V Siva Sankara Murty M.D.(Pediatrics) Associate Professor of Pediatrics
