2 Year Old. Has Cough, Green Discharge From Nose, Sneeze, Ear Infection, Blood In Mucus. Treatment?

Hello...my 2 year old has been coughing and has green discharge from her nose when she sneezes for over a month. I took her to the doctor last week and she had a double ear infection and she was prescribed an antibiotic . She has been on the medicine for a week and her cough and discharge only seem to be worse. In fact, this morning, there was blood in the mucus when she sneezed. Also...the cough seems to be much worse when lying down or after she gets up in the morning or from nap. Thanks!!

Hi,
Thank you for your query,
Your child seems to have a upper respiratory tract infection with a post nasal drip which is the cause of cough worsening during lying down and after she gets up due to positional change.
Due to forceful sneezing bleeding may occur in the nose and nothing to worry if it is stopped.
You can continue the medication as prescribed and you can give an antihistamine syrup and nasal drops like otrivin pediatric after the consultation with your doctor.
