13 Year Old Complains Of Frequent Aches In The Legs And Feet. Depression Or Fibromyalgia?
My 13 year old son has is in excellent shape but complains of frequent aches and pains. His legs always hurt, mornings are worse, recently he says his hands feel like they are asleep and his feet hurt to walk on. About six months ago he started seeing a counselor as doctor felt it was depression. I will take him back to doc but am wondering if you have any suggestions? Fibromyalgia, neuro? Diabetes? Where do we start?

As the doctor had suggested depression earlier, one can have these complaints in depression too. Instead of thinking of other causes it shall be better if you consult the doctor once again who shall take a detailed history and recommend appropriate investigations and further management. Investigatons shall rule out the doubts that have.

If the physical examination is not revealing any thing it could be because of depression.
Such body aches and pains can be seen in number of conditions.
But since your doctor suggested that it could be depression please consult a psychiatrist.
