1 Year Old Kid Has Had Diarrhea, Please Advise Treatment Suggestion
My 1 year old son has had diarrhea for a week and a half. Some days so much that I have to change his clothes. He now has fever of 104 with congestion, chills and body weakness. I took him to the doctor 2 days ago and he said that he has a virus that is going around. He has had the fever since yesterday and I have been giving him motrin every 6-8 hrs. Not sure if I should take him to the hospital or not. What is your medical advice ?

Hello I'm not a doctor but a mom and a health care provider, reading the symptoms and especailly you child having diarrhea that has lasted over a week with fever is very concerning....I would take him to the Pediatrician tomorrow morning and have her/him do blood work to identify what's really goin on....if you're near Children's Hospital I would do it right away...don't wait any longer...the poor child has already suffered enough! good luck!
I think main concern here is dehydration & persisting fever , if you can t feed with enough oral fluids ,then inevitable result is dehydration , so better to admit the baby to a hospital.
