1 Year, Fell Down, Got Hit Head On Concrete, Red Spot. Anything To Worry?

Hello, My daughter is 1 years old and about 20 mins ago fell out the back door after the dogs and hit her head on the concret. There is no bump but there is a quater size red spot. Should I be worried? Should I take her to the ER. It is her bed time and she is nursing right now and just closed her eye. Should I keep her up a little longer?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

Following head injury one should look for the following symptoms that will require immediate medical intervention:
1.     Headache
2.     Vomiting
3.     Drowsiness
4.     Abnormal movements including blurred vision
As skull is a hard closed cavity any internal injury, which cannot be seen, does manifest after some time which may vary from a few hours to days. Hence doctors usually recommend that the person should be kept under observation.

Hence, you should not be worried but observe your daughter for the a above mentioned signs.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your daughter an early recovery.

Regards,
